i'm back!

It's been a nice 6 month break... but I am back!

it's time to say adieu

Last week I learned that I have now reached the photo limit with Blogger. I looked into all of my options and decided that after 3 years of writing in this blog it is time to let it go. 

Life is busy. 

And by that I mean B-U-S-Y.

I love sharing what's on my mind and new things I've tried and come across but it just feels like it is the right time to say goodbye.

I'm going to leave the previous blog posts up as well as the ability to comment but there will be no new  posts.

If things calm down in the future and I decide I want to come back to public blogging I will post the link here.

In the mean time- Adieu.

It's Pumpkin Day, Mouse by Laura Numeroff is a board book that shows Mouse and his friend painting pumpkins. The book is simple, straight forward and super cute. It's a great book to read to little ones before Halloween.

Sadie's Sore Throat by Charlotte Cowan, MD is book that tells the story of a little girl who has a sore throat. Sadie goes to the doctor and has a throat swab. The swab comes back with strep throat and Sadie is put on antibiotics. This is a great book for children who are sick or are scared of going to the doctor.

apple butternut squash soup

I tried making Apple butternut squash soup recently and it was SOOOOOO yummy! Perfect for a cold day. I ended up having to add extra liquid to get it to a soup consistency but will definitely be making this again. The recipe yield is very large so be forewarned.

Did you know that people live in the tunnels under Las Vegas? I had no idea until I heard the story here on CBC.

left over items = yummy desert

Sunday is desert night here at our house. A few weeks ago I wanted to use up some left overs that we had so I improvised a recipe. I used frozen pieces of chocolate cake and poured cooked chocolate pudding over it. Then I whipped up some left over heavy cream with vanilla and sugar. And voila!

It actually tasted really good and I'll probably be making it again.

halloween

Halloween was a fun one this year. We carved Pumpkins a few days in advance and tried using cookie cutters to make the shapes on the pumpkins. It worked well. Check out our moose and the stars.

 That night we had 'mummy' hot dogs, 'rotting' marshmallow apple teeth and Quinoa and black beans 'brains'.

I also used those quinoa brains inside a stuffed 'pumpkin' pepper. I got the idea and recipe from Super Healthy Kids.

Then it was off to trick or treating with my circus troop. Umm, I mean my boys =o)
